Enneagram Study
Wednesdays - 7:00 pm
The Enneagram is an ancient tool that can help us understand our natural personality types. It is used by clergy for spiritual direction, psychotherapists for counseling, and business leaders to help workers around the world understand others. The Enneagram focuses not just on behavior, but also deep and intrinsic motivation. Its premise is that we each have strengths, and those strengths, when overdone, become our weaknesses. Each type can develop into greater integration and health, and each type can also descend into disintegration and entrenchment into old patterns. Far from being a system that would constrain people into rigid "types", the enneagram helps people recognize and observe familiar patterns, and then choose whether those patterns serve or hinder one's well-being. This personality tool gets to the heart of what matters most to people, and helps us all make more conscious choices in life.
Bible Study: The Epistle of James
Fridays - 10:00 am
James is a short, New Testament epistle, traditionally believed to have been written by James, the brother of Jesus, or one of James' disciples. This letter to the fledgling church in Jerusalem focuses on living amidst trials then and now. Where do we find joy? How are we to live together and treat one another? How should we think and speak of our lives and faith? Modern readers will find in James not simply a history lesson, but a practical guide to living, with easily applicable wisdom lessons. We have been given salvation through Christ, and here we have encouragement for a fruitful life in Christ.
